I can see through a player when they are holding a glass pane and regular glass

So while I was playing and I realized my friend was carrying a clear glass pane like I could see all the way through but I couldn't see things that weren't full blocks in including animals and the player. I tested to see if I could not see with  regular glass and it, did I tested it with colored glass and it also worked.
