Guardians will not spawn in columns made by soul sand. I recently spent about 20 hours clearing an ocean monument and building a guardian farm just for it not to work. No guardians are spawning. I thought it was a problem with the world, so I made a copy and it still didn't work. The 20 hours of my time gathering resources and building is obsolete until this is fixed.
