I'm playing with someone in my home and I join their game. I can fill my inventory on the bottom but only the first slot on the left works. If I tap on any other slot, the only thing that appears is what is in the first slot. This doesn't happen on local creative, only when I log into someone's game. I'm using an ipad Air but it's not listed above. Using 0.8.0alpha, also not listed above.

I also see this on Android 4.4.2 on a Nexus7 for multiplayer games on 0.8.0 as released to Amazon Store.
When you use any item other than the first in the inventory, it is immediately covered up by the first item in the inventory.
