The Summary:-
When i double tapped a single loose dirt block in my inventory to become a stack, all the remaining blocks in my inventory does not merge together.
How To Reproduce:-
Step 1:- Have a inventory full of one block only in all slots.
Step 2:- Double tap a block to stack them together.
Observed Results:-
The block does not get stacked together.
Expected Results:-
When double tapped a single block, all the same blocks in the inventory should stack up together.
Hoping this information is helpful to fix the bug.

I also have this issue. It doesn't have to be just one item that you double tap on. If you double tap on any stack of items to merge the stacks, it doesn't work.
I have this sort of issue on Windows 10 edition. I have to double click very fast to get the items in one stack, it takes me multiple times to get it to work.
Hey thank you, that you post this bug, because i just HATE to press with my thumbs at all items once;
I've noticed this too. And you can't select a stack of items then drag it across empty inventory slots to divide it into fractions.
Adding my own video about this bugs. Split item are working fine like you see on my vid. But stacking item are pain now. :-/
It might have been because you used silk toutch on the dirt and not on the others, atleased that seems to be the case with silk touch farmed and smelted stone blocks for me.
