New Nether Wood cannot be turned into charcoal or used as fuel

I tried making charcoal in the nether, could not use the logs from nether trees. When I took oak logs from creative mode, I still couldn't turn them into charcoal with nether wood. A fix would be appreciated, since there is no source of coal or charcoal in the nether right now.

Ahh okay, well I still disagree since you need to go to the overworld then to get coal to make torches, I guess they want us to use shroom lights and glowstone, but that means you cant craft blue torches and blue lamps
