When playing in fullscreen mode and playing in a Friends World, Servers, or having friends in your Online world if you tab out (Alt + Tab) for long enough you will disconnect from the server/friends world or your friends will disconnect form your world.

We're actually already tracking this issue in MCPE-31994, which has been marked as "Won't Fix".
The behavior is due to the way the game suspends when being minimized which interrupts the connection to the host for long enough that when you return you're disconnected.
If you haven't already, you might like to make use of the search feature to see if the issue has already been mentioned.
