Foxes take infinite amount of items, don't hold them in their mouths and never give them back

Hello, this is my first big report, I will go to the point.
I have a lot of foxes living in my house, they are tamed (around 9 to 12 foxes), but just an hour ago a creeper spawned inside my house a cause an small damage on my block and item chests, as soon as they got broken, my foxes started going for the items, but instead of holding just 1 object in their mouth, the items began to dissapear, as if they have a player inventory... I tried to give them all kinds of food and items to "trade" but they keep just accumulating items as if they had unlimited space. Killing doesn't work, and sure thing giving them food won't do anything.
I'm upset, cause I had valuable items and Blocks from my nether expeditions.
