We built our own village with plenty of beds, workplaces, and farms. Originally, we tried to steal villagers from another village, but that didn't work even after we stole all their beds and work places. Then, we tried curing zombie villagers. Some of them seemed to have a random profession, but we don't know where they got them because we didn't have the things placed down. We've had unemployed villagers (not nitwits) locked in a room with a work station but they refused to choose a job no matter what.
