After putting bone meal in a dispenser facing up with a grass block on top of it, I powered the dispenser to bone meal the grass, but it would shut my game off instead. After multiple attempts to check for consistency, my game would shut off almost every attempt to use bone meal thru a grass block via a dispenser.
