Unresponsive controls in all worlds after loading

iPad user here. MCPE has been great for a few weeks and a couple of days ago I began to encounter this problem.

After loading any of my worlds, everything boots up except the controls. I can see all of the blocks but cannot move or interact. I've attached a screenshot of one of my worlds and as you can see, no controls or hot bar etc can be seen. 

The only response I can get from the screen is to press the pause button which is invisible but still somehow works by tapping where it usually exists on the screen.

Ive attempted to fix this by creating new worlds, updating iPad software and even duplicating the seed. Nothing works. Even a brand new world will load with this problem.

Please help
