Baby pigs will never despawn

From MCPE-77698:
Summary:
All naturally spawning mobs that can despawn should despawn. Naturally spawned baby sheep and baby cows despawn correctly when player moves more than 54 blocks away from them. Baby pigs do not despawn when the player moves 54 blocks away.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Create a world in latest beta.

  2. Wait for baby pig to spawn.

  3. Move 54 blocks away from it.

Original Description:
Naturally spawned baby pigs don't despawn when outside the 54 block range, regardless if interactions have been made with them.

Are these pigs that have just generated as babies or ones that have been bred?

Naturally generated. You can reproduce in a brand new flat world and simply search for a baby pig.

are passive mobs supposed to despawn?

Yes, unless interacted with (led by wheat, bred, etc), just about all mobs should despawn when they travel past 54 blocks away from players, at least in the 1.16 beta

I can confirm this I recently made a similar bug report but didn't notice this until now. Using blocktopograph also shows that baby pigs don't despawn.

Can confirm.  Naturally generated piglets not despawning, ios bedrock, 1.16.

Can confirm release 1.16.1, will test beta tonight.
