So, after my break I decided to hop in the beta, to check the nether update out. I loved the update, minecraft still running smooth, its all great. At one point, i was running at that blue grass area at the nether (I still dont know the naming, sorry) and suddenly an item popped up in my inventory, that kinda looked like the mushroom texture, but the entity has no name and it couldn't be held. I'm guessing its a glitch? I'm still reporting just in case other players got it and it turns out as a bug. I would link a video but the file was too big, so theres some pictures of the item.
