I was creating my nether portal with lava and water to create obsidian, so I mixed the two and then simply the water replaced the block that the lava was on, so instead of creating obsidian, it created ... well ... water! ; - ; oh my portal! why!? * crying *

Your report does not contain enough information. As such, we're unable to understand or reproduce the problem. It may be that you accidentally replaced the lava with the water instead of letting the water flow into the lava by placing on an adjacent block above the lava.
You are welcome to create a new ticket about your issue with more detailed information.
However, please review the Issue Guidelines before writing a new bug report. In particular please provide a list of steps that someone else can follow to reproduce the issue. A video showing the issue would also be helpful.
