Nether wart blocks

I crafted nether wart blocks in my survival world because I have very little storage space and when I needed some, I went to craft some nether wart from the blocks I made but it wouldn’t craft back. Now , I have no nether wart and the nearest nether fortress that I haven’t taken the nether wart out of is hundreds of blocks away and I have to mine through the terrain to get some nether wart because I can’t craft my nether wart blocks back into nether wart.
