There is currently a bug where if you ride over an activtor rail in a minecart, it just kicks you out of the minecart.

Works as intended.
Activator rails are designed to kick mobs and players out of minecarts. They are crafted with iron, a redstone torch and two sticks.
If you want to accelerate your minecart, you have to craft powered rails. They are made out of gold, sticks and redstone.
