Was this intended or is this a bug?

This looks like a bug to me. I am in super flat and the sky is black in every direction and then there is a roof of blue sky. Last time I was on superflat there was no obvious black tenting in the distance and the sky looked more realistic. This doesn't look right at all and the only way someone can actually see this is in superflat.

you are not very specific.... it looks ok to me.

although the fog could be a little less black i'm betting you have your settings for minimal CPU
if you want that "Black stripe" to be smaller increase your render distance
if you get out of the flat world society, you will see better rendering without much "fog"

for those who havent heard about "fog" it's the term for the area so distant that it is a waste of CPU time to render it so a mask that fogs up your view is used. that one is a bit larger than usual but minimal settings for rendering distance and the flat world settings leave little to do to fill in the unrendered gap

I don't see the black sky in super flat, so I suspect this has been fixed.
