Cutout overlapping even when not running in full screen (FIXED IN 1.17.40)

Important

This issue is fixed in 1.17.40. If you are still experiencing this issue, make sure the option "Force app to use full screen" is off for Minecraft so the game can see the screen cutout.

On some devices, the game will try to display content over the cutouts (if any), which could potentially interfere with the game. This happens in all menus, and with all texture packs. A temporary workaround is to lower the Safe screen area, however this may cause tiny buttons.

Notes before testing: The rounded corners are exempt from this report. Please report that separately if you consider it an issue.

If your device supports it, make sure the option "Force app to use full screen" is off for Minecraft so the game can see the screen cutout.

List of affected devices:

  • Samsung Galaxy S10e (pictured)

  • Samsung Galaxy Note20 (only the standard model)

  • Samsung Galaxy S21 (only the standard model)

  • LG G8X ThinQ

  • OnePlus 8T

  • Google Pixel 5

Please verify if this occurs in 1.16.100

Try editing the "Safe Screen Area" in the video settings of the game

I mentioned that as a workaround to the issue. However, I reported this for those who care about it and don't want to change the safe screen area (I actually know some).

Description has been slightly re-worded

This appears to be fixed in 1.17.30.23 for the devices listed above

The cutout overlapping now only occurs if "Force app to use full screen" is on. With this result, I am willing to call it fixed in 1.17.40

This is my last edit on this report.

Closing as per comment above.
