My Kindle fire just updated Minecraft to version 1.20.81.01 and now I cannot connect to my Realm, "Unable to connect to Realm. Failed attempting to join realm. Please try again later."
This has been happening for hours.
My laptop running windows 11 and Minecraft 1.20.80 connects fine.
I restarted everything recommended with no difference.
Prior to the update my Kindle fire connected fine.

Hi, I'm having the same problem with Fire tablets running v1.20.81 from the Amazon AppStore https://www.amazon.com/Mojang-Minecraft/dp/B00992CF6W.
Whenever the Fire tablet attempts to connect to the Realm, they always see "Failed attempting to join realm. Please try again later."
Also, the moment the Fire tablets try to join the realm, it also disconnects other players already logged into they realm with a "Disconnected from Server" error. Reproduced the "Disconnected from Server" issue using Windows 11 Home PC on v1.20.80 and Android phone also on v1.20.80. See https://bugs.mojang.com/projects/REALMS/issues/REALMS-11772 for others seeing this issue.
I also opened a support request 6491083 on this, which includes some impacted gamer tags.
This is especially challenging since my profile on our Kindle Fire was forced to update the app because it was saying that the realm required an updated app to play. After I updated the app, and the tried to join my realm, it refused but also kicked out my daughter on her Fire. So we updated her app too, and now neither of us can connect to my Realm, which is super frustrating.
Feels like we'll hear a lot more about this as folks update their Fire apps.
Seems to be fixed, because the current version of realm is also 1.20.81.01. I can no longer reproduce this issue.
how did it update to 1.20.81???? 20.80 is the highest
