Since the last server restart, which was at the 27th July 2016, 01:13 AM Central European Summer Time, i can't connect to my Minecraft Realms world. The error message after approximately 3 - 5 minutes is: "An error occured, please try again later."
Several reboots, wiping Java cache, changing game versions didn't do anything.
The launcher output is the following:

It also seems to be the same issue as in the ticket MC-95311 from 5th January 2016.

Did you already contact the customer support?
I did and have no answer yet - if there's something that'll help with that issue, I'll post it here 🙂
Thanks for sharing, Marlon!
I have the same problem. Done the usual rebooting and even resetting router, all to no avail. Normal single player works fine.
Last successful log-in to Realms was early on 27 Jul 2016. Have contacted Customer Support yesterday with a we are working on submissions from 24th!!!!
Need more staff or there are a lot more issues than normal?
Regards
Michael, did you receive an answer from Customer Support?
The site is now stating, they're up to today's date with the tickets, but I didn't get an answer at all.
Greetings,
Florian
I received a non answer from them copied below with my response to them following it.
Hi Michael,
The reason for issues like this are many and can vary from player to player. Thus, making it hard for us to know the exact cause.
It can be caused by your connection such as network or ISP (Internet service provider) problems. It can also happen if you are using a wireless connection that is not stable. It may also be caused by you running multiple programs that are using your internet connection causing congestion in the connection. Another possible cause can be your firewall restricting your access to our servers resulting in a delay or loss of communication with the servers.
If the problem is caused by an error on any of our servers, it is temporary and will get fixed as soon as possible.
When you have tested for all this, please reply and let me know what might be causing the issue.
My response was:
To help,
I have a 10GByte wire network so there is no wireless stability issues.
I have checked my ISP service and is running at good to high speed..
I have closed down and done a cold boot and tried with no other programs running over connection and no change, same error message.
I have opened up my firewall and no change, same error message.
There are other users experiencing the same issue since the same time as myself so this points to a single issue which leads to a single point which would be the Realms Server or front end service.
Regards,
Michael
Thanks for sharing those results.
So we have to wait for the issue to be resolved, I guess. I'm curious for the answer to your (analytical) response to Minecraft Support.
Greetings,
Florian
AS an IT professional I have sat down and considered the issue. Firstly the fault seemed to stem from the restart of the server on 27 Jul. I have tested everything this end and the fact that I can log into the server and select the Configure realms icon and be able to select worlds, I tried a mini game and it loaded. That confirmed to me that there was no issue from my end to the server. I then loaded one of my other worlds and yes it worked. So far so good.
So the only issue was my world that I had been using prior to the restart. I went and loaded a backup prior to the server restart and then went to load it. Surprise, surprise it worked.
So there had been an error incurred when they restarted the server which either corrupted some worlds data or there is a hardware (disk) error which also effects some worlds. the restoration wrote the data to a clean area so the problem is mitigated.
The 2 days loss of work is minimal against the relief of getting my world back.
PS I will await the next response from the support desk before I let them know I have resolved my issue.
Woah, Michael! Great work! It worked for me as well. Reverted to the backup state of 27th July, 00:03 AM and Iam back online!
Love the way how you tackled the problem!
What came into my mind: I was kicked by the server for the restart, so I didn't disconnect myself when the 5 min server shutdown timer came. Maybe that's a part of the issue. I will try that tonight and report if there's an reproducibility.
Thanks again for the awesome workaround!
Gratefully,
Florian
I am also having the exact same issue, my launcher output is pretty much the same, tried connecting on two different computers with same result "an error occurred, please try again later."
