I went in the end city portal with my elytra and all my gear and it killed me instantly

I was on my way to make a wither rose farm and I had to figure a way to get into the portal a different way other than a pearl. So when I went through it dropped me into the void and then I tragically died. the end, I lost all my hard netherite gear and everything else that was with me 😢
