Sometimes when I pass through a nether portal in my friend’s realm, I suffocate while it’s on generating world. I can hear the dying sounds as it’s loading. When it finishes loading I find that I am dead, and my loot is around 30 blocks away. This affects everyone on the realm, including the owner.

I have the same issue on realms too but my case is worse I my screen shows generating terrain while I'm getting suffocated and it won't finish loading no matter how long you wait

Confirmed this is happening in 1.13.1 on realms Android LG Q6 on 8.1
I suffocated going through from the overworld. long generation message and the text to speech announced suffocated in a wall. However, after the death message, the screen showed that I was standing in the nether at exactly the portal I should have arrived at. I can only assume I suffocated in the portal frame blocks.
