I have just purchased a 180 day Realm to play with myself and my friend but it said that something went wrong and my Realm was being made and to try back later. I've now gone back on and it's vanished and asking me to pay again...
The original payment was taken as well. This is my first ever Realm of my own... I'm not sure what to do?

This is a support request, create a support ticket at help.minecraft.net and they can refund or create the realm for you.
