HORRID Minecraft Realms Lag.

Nowadays, when I join my Realms server, IT LAGS HORRIBLY!! It started a bit ago, and now it's like 2 ticks a second. Command blocks run slower, mobs fall slow, the chat lags, it is really bad.

I'm seeing a similar thing on the Realms server I play on. Client is 1.8.1/vanilla, running on Java 1.8.0_25 64bit.

I don't own the server, but it seems all players on the server (there are more than 10 players, though it's rare for more than two or three to be logged in simultaneously) suffer much the same. One or two players have it consistently worse, but I suspect that may be their own connection issue (although the server issue is no doubt making things worse for them).

Something worthy of note, I think, is that the lag is most present when only one player is on the server.

With one player logged in, there is extreme block lag (blocks dug may take up to twenty seconds to drop their respective resources, placed blocks don't fully register for the same amount of time as evidenced by the lag between placement and hearing the 'placed' sound.

Mobs spawned from blocks (most notably silverfish) may take a very long amount of time to show on the client, causing lag sufficient for even a single one of these mobs to kill the player outright regardless of how the player attempts to fight back. Running away sometimes permits survival, but only infrequently. Even having run a considerable distance away, the damage from the mob may slowly show up over the next two full minutes, either until the server belatedly decides the player has escaped the danger, or until the player is dead.

Players killed in such a manner typically have their items strewn all over a large area, presumably from the server catching up to their pre-death movements. Mobs may not appear to move at all for a very long time, then suddenly stutter gradually towards a new location.

It is completely unplayable.

However, as soon as a second or third player joins, the lag almost immediately starts to vanish. It may take a few full minutes to sync everything properly, but shortly enough it seems to be perfectly fine. After the additional players log out, the server seems to remain fine until the last player logs out. Following a period of approximately an hour and a half upwards of no players being present on the server, the first player to log in will frequently have this issue.

It is not always present, but frequently enough to become a real nuisance.

I'm also running on Java 1.8.0_25 64bit. And my Realms world is unplayable since 1.8. It got better with 1.8.1 but the lag still arrives after playing for 10 to 20 minutes in the same area of my world. Then you can't ride a horse or a minecart, place blocks or chat without severe hickups. And in the end you get kicked because of time out or other issues.
I'm using a map that was generated many version ago and uploaded to the Realms Server when 1.8 arrived. Maybe that's the reason for it? But then I don't understand why I can play without lag, if I wait for 10 to 15 minutes outside. If I log back in it seems fresh server resources were given to me and I can play a while without any problems at all... and I repeat, all in the same area. With a render distance of only 8 chunks. We are four players at maximum, but that does not make a difference. The lag comes no matter how many or few we are.

Instead of creatng a new issue I comment here. I am having a lot of problems with lag on my realms server lately. It used to be super smooth with up to 6-8 ppl playing at the same time, but now it get`s really laggy if more then two ppl are on. The problem started about 2 months ago. In the same period we have also been having trouble with the world not saving, so many of us have lost hours of work.

I'm in the middle of compiling reports from our realm and the players on it, we're experiencing the same thing and I'm hoping to fill any additional gaps in this ticket to help track things down.

I'm getting screenshots, logs, and I'll have some anecdotal comments from everyone on the server. I'm watching and voting for this issue.

For anyone who has commented and NOT voted, I suggest you do so to raise this tickets profile.

@Sonic : This is not a dupe of that ticket, this is a much more specific issue and has nothing to do with FPS lag.

Blockstory - Realms server players and ISPs + Reported issues

1) Marcin Wolf: UK - TalkTalk - Gauranteed 'Server closed' message shortly after logging in and being close to a farm. anywhere between 5-20 seconds before kick.
2) Zell - Same as above based in Croatia
3) Freezerpick (owner of Realm) - same as above - based in the Netherlands

Note: the server has recently been backed up and we've moved to hosting provided by a third-party. As yet we haven't seen any additional issues with lag. There are some entity issues and we're looking at a potential corrupt player.dat situation to see if either of those things are related.

Note: We're seeing two particular errors. I've added them to the ticket.

We are seeing very similar issues on our server - players dropping off frequently (3-4 times over a 10 minute span); blocks that were mined reappearing as though they had not been mined at all, players getting killed by mobs while theoretically kicked off the server, and strange elevation changes after returning through a Nether portal. Most critical is the lag, however - last night for instance the lag was so bad it was impossible to attack a mob.

I haev the same thing, my world never lagged but now, it's THE WORST
