Description:
When attempting to connect to my Minecraft Realms server ( version 1.16.4 ), I received "An error occurred, please try again later." as the error response. No warnings or errors are displayed on the client-side 'game output' debugging tool. It's been a solid day (24+ hours) now and am now making this Jira ticket to have this issue addressed.
Troubleshooting I've tried:
Completely un-installed Minecraft, re-installed Minecraft and tried connecting.
Had friends un-install and re-install their game, then attempt to connect only to receive the same non-descript error message.
Checked the 'Minecraft Game Output' tool, which didn't even log it as an error, despite very much being one.
Tried to connect to other players realms servers ( I was successful in doing so).
Ensured that I have a stable internet/network connection.
Completely deactivated Windows security and firewall settings.
Disabled modem security features and opened all TCP/UDP ports.
Ensured that Windows 10 had all current updates, my network card drivers are up-to-date, and my Nvidia GPU drivers were up-to-date.
Swapped the 'world' on my realm and was able to log in perfectly fine. Swapping back to the 'world1' resulted in the same error message.
Steps to Reproduce:
Log into my Minecraft Realms server.
Wait an average of 2 minutes on the 'connecting to realm' screen.
Experience the non-descript "An error occurred, please try again later." error
From where I'm standing, the only remaining possibility is a hosting/infrastructure issue (my current world size on this Realms account is 63.5GB, based on my last backup download ). The last documented Jira ticket that I could find pertaining to my 'non-descript error' was 'this', with the same non-descript error and was dismissed as 'non-repeatable'.
Please get back to me with any updates you can, pertaining to my issue. I've included the log files and screenshots from my attempts to log into my realm. If you have any further questions for me to further assist with troubleshooting, feel free to reach out to me. Thanks again.

Just so you are aware, this report ISN'T invalid and has been reviewed by the Minecraft Server Infrastructure team, as was conveyed by an email from Mojang. This issue is a valid issue pertaining to a back-end service when loading worlds larger than 60 GBs. I've included an unmodified client screenshot, just so you are content that my troubleshooting was thorough enough.
Since you are able to reproduce this in a vanilla environment, this report is no longer invalid. In future, please only provide attachments that are unmodified so no confusion is caused.
I reproduced this same error today in my Realm (stuck on Connecting for 2-4 minutes, then "An error occurred, please try again later."). I'm the admin, but same issue occurred for another user. I reproduced this same error (stuck on Connecting for 2-4 minutes, then "An error occurred, please try again later.") today in my Realm. I'm the admin, but same issue occurred for another user.
My realm is only 364 MB in size.
Log is attached, looks similar to OP's.
I've also been having this issue, we have tried all the same thing but reinstalling, we have no mods or resource packs. It started today, last night we could tell something was off since it was all glitchy. Hope this gets fixed soon

While I do appreciate the reply, you've marked a clearly on-going issue (see other issues being re-directed here) as 'resolved', with the stipulation on anything being done based around my ability to produce a 60GB+ Minecraft world from more than 3-4 years ago. The world doesn't exist anymore (because I actually wanted to use my Realms instead of being stuck at the above error screen) but the issue is clearly still ongoing.
While I can't stop you from disregarding my advice to keep this ticket alive until the issue is 'actually' resolved, I am going to at least document my request for continued efforts on this. Just because I can't produce what you're asking for doesn't magically resolve the issue. Thank you for your consideration.
Hi @unknown. Do you still have a world that you mentioned in REALMS-11942? If so, could you export your world and add it to that report? If it exceeds the file size limit, you can upload it elsewhere (e.g., OneDrive) and link it here.

Hi!
Thank you for your report!
Closing as Cannot Reproduce.
The issue is apparently related to a world that unfortunately was not attached to the report.
Please note, that mechanics of the game may change between updates.
Things such as graphics, sounds, world creation, biomes, redstone, villagers, and animals may not work the same in current versions.

Not sure if it's the same problem, but at least it's similar.
My realms has been slow to open for years. I need several consecutive attempt to load my realm, but eventually it always does.
But for each year it gets slower. Today, I made a new record with a 14 minute wait:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2eTzfzKheo
I'm not sure why it took so long today, as it normally waits for 3-4 consecutive attempts.
It might be because I started connecting to the realm, had the idea to record it after reading this post, and then closed the entire game to start over.
Considering I've had this problem for years, and it doesn't matter which one of my invited players who tries to connect (both mac and windows) to the realm, we can safely say that this is not "resolved".
This report is invalid as your game was modified when experiencing this issue. In the screenshot you've provided, I can see that you're using some kind of modification. and the bug tracker only handles issues that occur, or can be reproduce in a vanilla environment. If this happens without the use of mods, feel free to create a new ticket.
