Hey there!

I own both Java Edition and Bedrock Edition, and I got Bedrock Edition first. When I went to minecraft.net and logged in, it does not show that I owned Bedrock Edition. I suspect this is intentional because skin controls are all in Bedrock Edition anyway.

In case you can't tell which is Bedrock or Java Edition, here are a few points:

  • Purchased from the Windows 10 Store? You have Bedrock Edition.

  • Purchased from minecraft.net? You have Java Edition.

  • What does is the title screen's 3 main options? Singleplayer, Multiplayer and Minecraft Realms? Java. Play, Settings and Marketplace? Bedrock.

  • Bedrock Edition is the only game with Marketplace.

  • Try opening/creating a world with cheats and typing /adavancements. Valid command? Java. Invalid? Bedrock.

  • Got a gift card? What does it look like? Steve, Alex, a pig, wolf and some other mobs on a cliff, and midday/sunset background? Bedrock. Alex and Steve exiting a cave? Java.

  • How can you log in? Mojang and Microsoft accounts? Java. Only Microsoft accounts? Bedrock.

Please tell me what your version is, this can help me help you better.

Bedrock and logging in with microsoft

Windows 10 edition will not show up as owned on minecraft.net, rather it will appear as owned in the Microsoft Store.

To change your skin you need to tap the coat hanger icon on the game homescreen
