Bug search/support functionality

I reported several bugs so far and every single time I've looked it up tried to find any other duplicates of the same bug report and every single time the search results show up. Nothing using multiple different terms. It's still shows nothing. I get an email shortly after saying it's a duplicate and that it's resolved. It's never resolved and I have no way of knowing that it's a duplicate until after I've made the actual bug report..

What is the definition of a resolved bug? Does it mean you fixed it (no) or does it mean you know it exists and are acknowledging it (hardly)? Cuz... doesn't really seem like either

"Resolved" just means that it is no longer open. This can mean multiple things, but not necessarily that it's been fixed. You can see how or why it has been resolved by checking the "Resolution" field. Usually there'll also be a comment with an explanation.

I'd recommend to check out the 📓 Bug Tracker Guidelines for a full explanation on how the bug tracker works.

As for the search feature here on the bug tracker, it is a bit tricky to use. It does not work like other search engines like Google for example. Instead, it'll only show you bug reports that match all the keywords in your search. As such, using more keywords will always result in fewer bug reports.

As an example, searching for "breaking animation on a door does not disappear after it has been broken by a zombie" will not find any results, whereas "door breaking zombie" will find lots of bug reports, including the one I was looking for (MC-1). For more information on how the search here on the bug tracker works, you can once again refer to the 📓 Bug Tracker Guidelines.

Of course you can also always search for bug reports on your favourite search engine (e.g. google) by restricting it to only return results from this website.

Also, there's nothing wrong with filing a duplicate bug report. While we appreciate people trying to avoid posting duplicates, we understand that it's not easy to find bug reports if you're new to the bug tracker.

Either way, I'll now resolve this bug report as "Invalid" because it's not a bug, but a question.
