Sorry for the late response. This issue persists to this day. While my son doesn't play Minecraft every single day anymore, he still needs to reinstall it every time he plays.

Unfortunately, the problem persists with the current version. When it happens, the horizontal loading bar changes the size of the tiny bars, and then nothing happens anymore. The vertical bars still move, and it just stays there forever (well, AFAICT 🙂).
