Now would that be a windows firewall issue or the firewall within my router. And if I checked it on a different computer, that wouldn't solve the issue that I have on the this PC.
Yes the old launcher used to connect to minecraft.net just fine. This is the first time I'm using this new implemented launcher.
Here are some of the lines it outputs.
unable to download remote file
cannot contact authentication server
