I'm also experiencing the same issue. Everything was smooth and fast then with 1.16.200, my local world is very laggy it's hard to even play the game.

I'm playing on Windows 10 on Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700HQ CPU @ 2.80GHz 2.81 GHz with 16 GB ram
