MC-45620 Random signs are displayed too dark Duplicate

Comments

I'm using OSX 10.6.8 on a white MacBook 6.1 with a swiss keyboard. This bug still exists up to 14w07a (including 1.7.4), I can't type the symbols ^ (has its own key) and ~ (alt+N), but copy-pasting them works perfectly fine. Maybe it's because those symbols "expect" to have another letter following?

@Kumasasa As I said, I currently can't test anything. I only know that it is (well, maybe was, tested it on 1.5 last time) possible to color sign text with the § sign in vanilla.

This issue isn't exactly because of the colored signs, sadly I have no idea how to reproduce this bug. Just happens randomly... But as it also happens with uncolored signs in vanilla, the color can't be the problem.

@Kumasasa It is a vanilla issue, too. It happened to me in vanilla, as in the bug description: "Happens in Vanilla singleplayer as well as on my Bukkit Server."

Also, you CAN place coloured signs in vanilla, see the command I posted above.

@Talven81 I currently can't try this (only mobile internet), would be great if someone has some of those "dark signs" in a map tries this in 14w04.

@Kumasasa
This actually IS a Vanilla Problem! Maybe not that you can't read colored text, but in Vanilla, Random signs just turn dark too, that IS a bug, and that NEEDS to be fixed!

@Kumasasa I placed the signs with Bukkit, but for Vanilla it would be for the first sign (top left):
/setblock ~ ~ ~ wall_sign 3 place {Text1:"§lWillkommen!",Text2:"Bist du neu auf",Text3:"§6U§8G§fCH§r?",Text4:"Dann gehe am"}

I know you're now going to say "colored signs aren't used in Vanilla", yes, maybe, but the problem also affects "vanilla" signs (top right sign). You can read the text then but the sign itself is still too dark.

@Christoffer Larsson
I'm editing the file /User/Application Support/minecraft/versions/1.6.4/1.6.4.json
You can apply the fix to any version of the game, this example is just for 1.6.4.

@Alexander Strelets
Wow, thanks, it works! Just replace every "2.9.0" in the json file of a profile with "2.8.5".

@Fenhl Well, that's weird... Doesn't work for me too

But it was not like that before 1.2 or something... Even the new Minecraft Icon has it like it should be.

Thanks Jeb! You're awesome <3
God, I'm so glad that this is fixed.

They should REALLY fix this because it is so annoying. Please Mojang! Please!

@Kade Steffes It is a bug, they fixed it on the PC version.

Sorry, this wasn't clear. I stood right in front of the tower on the ground. I mean the tower which I can see through the clouds regardless of my Y coordinate. 😃

Here you go: http://pastebin.com/FwvFcN48

It's weird. I really can see the top half (Edit: From the tower!) from the ground and I have no idea why. I stood right in front of it (Edit: Of the tower!), if that matters (probably not).

No it is pure vanilla... Weird.

I know. I tested it with a tower and I can see it from every y level, no matter if I'm above, in or under the clouds.

I would guess that the Minecart collision Box is placed too high, as when you enter, everything is moved up those 0.344 blocks. So the lowest spot you can click on is 0.344 blocks higher than in 1.5. The problem why this doesn't make sense is that if you relog (with the cart placed before or being in the cart) after 1-3 seconds everything is normal again.

Oh yes, minecraft is weird. 😉
