@Mega_Spud It does appear to be a similar issue.
I found that I needed to configure my router to forward ports in order to get a friend to connect to my machine, that may be the solution you need also. i.e. the person sending the invitation should configure port forwarding to their machine.
The following is my configuration which has resolved it for me.

Have you tested whether you can start it after backing up your save(s) and then removing them from the minecraftWorlds folder? i.e. in
%AppData%\Local\Packages\Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\games\com.mojang\minecraftWorlds
move the folders contained within to another location and start the game, if it works, then it's probably something in a save that's messing with it
No, on this occasion it was when I loaded the game, starting and remaining in the Overworld.
This also occurs on placed glass pane blocks.
