I think this bug is fixed due to unrelated bug reports that include "dead coral" in title now.
I was able to confirm resolved in v1.12.0 iphone. (dead coral can be placed does not disappear)
Report may refer to item drop of coral, which would be intended.

I could place coral fans on half slabs in water, which popped off to. (same behavior as described above).

4 skeleton horses died on me, two at the same time. I didn’t notice the first two die, but I got their leashes back. All were named. (Survival world) V1.6.0 on iPad iOS 12.
Just checked for new update 1.6.1, in a creative world, the issue seems to be fixed. Sad that I didn’t update to save my horses though...
Maybe saving or unloading chunks with horses without full health could make it so they cannot be fed?
Sorry, not all horses, just a few that have lost health and cannot be healed with food. Newly spaced horses work as intended.
Lol, checking back after 2 years, thank goodness I play java. Wonder if it's still an issue...
