I can reproduce this consistently in 1.11.2
I have a MP server which I maintain which is also running MP version 1.11.2

Alright, this was a server issue on my end
I did a clean install of the server jar which seems to have take care of it. It looks like when I updated the server through my management panel it stayed on version 1.11.1, though because of it being a minor version, clients on 1.11.2 could still connect and take advantage of the version disagreement.
