Hello! I think this helps... I have the same bug. I had been playing with my friend when I died. I said my friend to take my items but it dissapear. We were in the middle of the ocean, so the problem didn't was search it.
I hope the bug can be fixed.
EDIT: I was playing in Windows 10 meanwhile my friend was playing in PS4.
