Why do you even what to launch 1.8.9 anyway? It's not even the most stable version of 1.8 patches. My only idea is you are trying to play a 1.8.9 map , because for nostalgia (or new combat mechanic system). If that's the case, then just switch over to 1.8.8 . You won't even notice a difference, and everything will work just fine.
