Blast furnace is only for smelting ores and excess iron and gold tools/weapons/armor.
i can reproduce this bug with sea pickles. when bone meal the sea pickle, it can sometimes spread to nearby coral blocks. if you stand on one of the blocks it spread to, you will get stuck.
