This only seems to affect ‘old’ worlds at the moment
I’m playing on the switch BUT it’s almost impossible to remove the bell from inventory.
The only way to remove it is to:
REMOVE all items from inventory into a chest or something
die
Just don’t pick up the bell (or just burn it) until the bug is fixed (or wait until it’s fixed) I hope I helped you with the issue, this method isn’t that great (you lose the bell) but hoped I helped somebody.🙂
