Just updated Minecraft PE to 1.17.40 and all my friends and Iās tamed and name-tagged pets disappeared. My dog, my sisters dog, 3 alpacas and over 10 horses disappeared. The alpacas were leashed, the 2 dogs were tamed and all the horses were tamed, had name tags and saddles. I tried rejoining minecraft numerous times but every time we came back they were still gone. This was on a survival world

this is not the same bug as the one you said. firstly, they lost their mobs/pets after NOT saving properly, i did. they are also on another update than me and console. we do not have the same bug they are just similar.

It is the same bug. Save & quit vs force-close is not the defining trigger, even though much was made of that by the reporter of MCPE-144208. It is happening on multiple platforms in the current release and beta versions.
