Jumping on happy ghast made me take fall damage from 1-2 blocks

I was jumping back and forth from two happy ghast and when I jumped on one I slightly fell through but then my character bounced back on top and I took fall damage for the entire drop even though I didn't fall all the way down. I may have triggered my slightly when landing
