Eating berries on dedicated servers doesn't work

This bug does not apply in worlds, just in the Bedrock dedicated server.

I noticed that when attempting to eat berries, the animation plays, but no berries are depleted from your hotbar and no hunger is restored.

This bug isn't really high priority, just wanted to point it out. I usually take berries with me on long journeys as it is an easily-acquirable food source and if I need more I can grow it without needing water, a hoe, etc, so not having them as a food source anymore is slightly disappointing.

Edit: This glitch happens to all foods from time to time, restarting the client fixes it

Hey Max,

Have you tried quitting Minecraft and re-joining the server? I have seen this same issue with other food sources but a client restart usually resolves it.

Also, have you had a chance to update your server to 1.14.30 (released overnight) and retry?

Ionic

Edit: I just tested it on my server (1.14.30 client and server) and am not seeing this behaviour. Eating restores health and reduces the count in your hotbar.

Alright... I logged on this morning (after restarting both the server and the client) and berries worked perfectly fine. Sorry for wasting your time _

And while you're here, how does one update the server to 1.14.30? Two of my friends can't connect because the server is 1.14.21 and their client is updated, but the rest of our clients are still 1.14.21... does the server update itself?

Don't be so sure you wasted anyone's time, this isn't the only report of this issue so I'm going to submit this one for closure as a duplicate of that one (that ones in the MCPE section which means it probably affects the game client rather than the server). Its possible you're onto a sporadic bug 😉

As for updating, you need to do it yourself. There are a few resources online to walk you through it. Download the new files and then move your world and config files from the old to the new.
