Wrong warp

This happened once before, and I have not been able to replicate it. Basically, I fell in lava while mining. I exited to title put of frustration, and when I went back in to accept my death, I was on fire- at my spawn point. I still had everything, even though keep inventory was disabled. I had escaped death by teleporting home.
