We have just upgraded the minecraft bedrock server running on windows 10 to 1.16...
Our Xbox users all got the update automatically and couldnt connect to the old version (1.14) so i took the chance to upgrade our servers...
However now the Xbox users get a message :
"You don't currently have a strong connection to the server"
clicking connect anyway times out... Nothing has changed on our customers xboxs - as far as they are aware, and other than upgrading the servers on windows 10, nothing has changed here...
i am able to connect on my windows 10 gaming lappy both internally on our network and externally on various networks....
So please can someone explain how to fix the xbox users ability to connect.
Many thanks

No, we have various players connecting via the internet, one player got in touch after having the 1.16 update asking if the server was online, which i hadn't upgraded it at that point - nor my win10 PC version and was working fine for me...
So assuming lack of back connectivity i upgraded both the bedrock server version, and my win 10 versions and restarted the server, i can connect both internally and externally with my pc, but the Xbox users are getting the " strong connection to server" message when it has been working for 4 months prior to the update!

To diagnose this issue further, can I find out all the steps you use to connect an Xbox player to the server?
Xbox does not currently allow you to connect to custom servers outside of your local network, and the issue is likely related to the workaround that you are using to allow this to happen.
here is the video Xbox users said worked for them

This indicates that they were using DNS hijacking to connect to a custom minecraft server version that then allowed them to connect elsewhere.
Use of this custom server version in not supported.
