I've discovered that the target block behaves like a transparent block and it really bothered me because in java, it behaves as a solid block. If the target block behaves as a transparent block, things like these are not possible, thus making its feature (the directional redstone thing) useless.

You can also see this behaviour by placing a target block between a container and a comparator, the comparator cannot read the contents of the container
