I play minecraft with my son on a relatively new Xbox 1s (digital). The worlds we create are under his profile. I play as a secondary character who joins his world. After being in this world for 3 months, one time I logged in and my character respawned at the original spawn point (despite having slept in a bed probably 60 times or more) and he had nothing of the inventory (armor, weapons, etc) and no experience. It was like starting over. This was upsetting as I had several diamond enchanted weapons in my inventory at the time - and close to 40 in experience. I took the character back to my base to see if my original character was there - and he was not (curious if it was a duplicate). I then logged out and and rejoined and my original character with high experience and diamond weapons/tools was there. I thought it might be a one time occurrence but it happened again late last weekend after copying my world (though he was where I left him at my base). Again, I logged out and relogged in and my original character was there with corresponding experience and weapons. Please help me resolve this.

I've experienced this issue as well. It's swapped back and forth between my main player character with all of my stuff and the empty one 4 or 5 times now. Today it swapped to the empty one and no amount of restarting or re-connecting has gotten my main player back. I even had all my valuables (30 diamond blocks, a dozen netherite ingots, etc.) in an Enderchest, which means all of that stuff is gone too until I can get it back. Would love a solution to this, or at least a way to reliably change character.
My suspicion is that the xuid printed in the server console is different, but I never wrote it down so I can't be sure.
Server v1.16.40.02 on Windows
Game v1.16.40 on Windows
Edit: just restarted and logged-in again a couple hours later and my stuff is back. Still, a way to prevent this in future would be really nice.
