Since 1.9, I have not been able to eat anything on any of my survival worlds. It does the eating animation but doesn't use up items or refill hunger.
I don't think this has affected sever play though.
To re-create, just try eating on my software. I am using an older version of Java, by the way.

Hi, I have the same issue since the update. just playing single player locally. Everything else seems fine except when I try to, the hand/food jumps up and down but is never eaten. I see in the comments to upgrade software and hardware. I think my hardware is fine, but what software? and why would this cause this kind of issue? nothing appears to be lagging is the only thing I've seen mentioned for this issue, but I don't have lagging issues with mobs. I also downloaded windows 10 beta and cant eat either. but I don't get any kind of animaion.
Bizarre, with me it's the other way around. It doesn't play the animation (though the particles are there) but when i just keep on eating like normal it fills up my hunger.
