Diamond shovel efficiency V creates "ghost blocks"

While digging around with a diamond shovel with efficiency v, occasionally it will create a "ghost block" which is transparent, but behaves similarly to dirt. When I make contact with it, its behavior rapidly alternates between air and solid block regarding whether or not it allows the player to go through it, making it appear as if the character is shaking. I cannot break it. Water will treat it like a normal block and snow will still collect on top of it. When I restart the game, the "ghost block" returns to a normal dirt block. When digging with a diamond shovel with efficiency v for an extended period of time, this glitch becomes a large nuisance.

Steps to recreate:

Dig a whole bunch of dirt with a diamond shovel with efficiency v (mine also had unbreaking III) and you'll eventually run into it.
