Crash on loading single or multiplayer game

When I try to join a server, or play a single player game, just after the world loads in I get the error message:
"Java(TM) Platform SE binary has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. "

I have also gotten exit code 1 and exit code -1073740940 during my attempts to fix the problem, but it always crashes at the same point.
I have reinstalled Java and Minecraft, restarted my computer, allocated more memory to Minecraft, ran in Administrator mode and I still get the same results.
