[MC-105808] Custom heads can crash the game: java.lang.NullPointerException: Rendering entity in world

The bug

Custom heads can crash the game. The game crashed possibly because it couldn't generate the entity or something. Crash log is included in attachments.

How to reproduce

Open a world with cheats on

Type in the chat:

/give @p minecraft:skull 1 3 {SkullOwner:"player-name-here"}

Custom heads aren't supported, so are giants.

Is this still an issue in Minecraft 1.13.1? Also, the command in 1.13 is /give @p minecraft:player_head{SkullOwner:"Logdotzip"}.
