All sounds work for me.
1. See if Master Volume is OFF, which is under Options>Music & Sounds. If it is off, set this to 100%. If that does not work, see if your computer is on mute.
2. F3 and S is not supposed to toggle your sound.

F3+S no longer reloads the sound engine; it was merged with F3+T. This may be a duplicate of MC-35714.

My speakers are on, all the sounds work on other games, and on everything else, only Minecraft is still mute. I tryed it this morning. I know how to manage sound options in the game...but it still doesn't work. Sorry.

Can it be solved?
Try the following:
Stop Minecraft
Delete the contents of the assets folder (.minecraft/assets)
Launch Minecraft

didn't help...still no sounds

does Eset program have anything to do with it? I read that some of the antivirus programs might interfere with games...I'm desperate....It's my son's fav game and it's no fun playing like that

Can you post the log? %appdata%/.minecraft/logs/latest.log
- that'll sometimes have more info regarding why audio failed to start.

Does MC-9974 describe your issue ?

I've deleted all the logs...unfortunately...but I get this when I reinstall the game (which I did for 5 times allready)

Where is that OpenAl? Sorry I'm just a mother trying to help a 11 year old play his favorite game ...

Please attach the complete output of the "Game Output (Your Minecraft name) " which can be found on the fourth tab of the launcher to this ticket.
If the launcher closes after game start, please edit your profile and select "Launcher visibility" then, "Keep the launcher open".

Please can you explaint to me in plain language, because I'm not a hacker, and I'm form Croatia, so English is not my native language....

I'll just show you:
[media](_SunCat_ is my minecraft name)

my son tried it....with my instructions over the phone...but he sees no Game output ....I will have to try it on my own when I come home.... I do this with his user name right?

Yes, with his nickname.
Sorry, forgot a step between 2 and 3 - start the game, and wait till it fully loads

well SunCat thank you very much for now...I'll try it myself when I finish work...and I'll let you know if I succeded...

Hm, it looks like the sound engine started correctly. Do sounds from other programs work on that computer (for instance, do YouTube videos have sound)? If they don't, then probably it's not a Minecraft bug, but if the other things do have sound and Minecraft doesn't, then
Did sounds work in the past, or have they never worked?

All the sound were OK when we bought the game...it worked all right till past two weeks.. Now it doesn't work.. Other programs, games, and youtube have normal sounds. I really don't know what to do. I've deinstalled the game and reinstalled it again from the link that we got in the mail when we purchased it for about 6 time now. My son is sad...and I can't help him.

So....to inform all of you that tried to help us....Last night, when I almost gave up...I clicked on the Spekers menu and Minecraft appeared, and the sound in that mixer was off....game sounds now WORK. In the morning I wanted to show my son that option, and Minecreft was no longer there in the Volume mixer...but the sounds in the game work. I feel stupid, but then again, no one touched the sound mixers before, and the game played well. Thank you all for your trouble, and help. I now know a lot more about the PC issues, and maybe I'll even start to play Minecraft myself.
