Sand (observed), clay (to be observed, expected by me) and others are generated at villages farms.
First screenshot in 1.10.2 and second in 16w35a, there is one sandspot more.

Can confirm that the village simply generated on top of a pond in the plains.
It just looks like the village generated on top of a couple of ponds, which generate naturally. This doesn't look like a bug to me.
